Find the Magic

Since leaving the corporate world 18 months ago I have been ‘miles out of my comfort zone’ learning new skills, swimming against the tide, taking risks and finding a little bit of magic from within.

Don’t get me wrong – it’s been a roller coaster!! Excitement, joy, anxiety, doubt, worry, failure, self discovery, exhaustion, reward and challenge!

Apologies, for the clichés but they all ring true. When I was working long office hours and commuting I felt like my life was on hold, that I was wasting away. Now I’m finding out so much and realising my creativity at last.

Even when I start to feel a little bit comfortable in this new journey – there’s always something round the corner to jolt me out. Recently I was delighted to be invited to join The Handmade Boutique. An amazing concept of a handcrafters’ pop-up shop. A co-operative business bringing gorgeous crafts and talents to the high street. Founded by the entrepreneurial drive of Tracie Bedwood, you can read more about Tracie here in the lovely Annie-Loves-Vintage blog.

Strength in numbers has enabled these small businesses to grow and thrive. Have a look at The Handcrafted Boutique blog to see the array of talented designers involved.

I was very excited but a little hesitant in joining the venture as it really challenged me. Why? – My existing products were bridal – a niche market and one I have got to know a little. To succeed at The Handmade Boutique I needed to think outside the box, widen my product range to suit the lovely high street shoppers looking for something different and unique.

I’m so glad I took on the challenge! It really pushed me out of my comfort zone and now I’m delighted to say – I’m offering earrings, bracelets & necklaces, along with festive and celebratory products. It hasn’t been easy developing new products, finding my way through the maze of jewellery findings and techniques until I felt happy with the quality and design but I feel so rewarded now with the feedback. I’d like to thank the lovely Evelyn for all her help and advice. I met Evelyn through The Handcrafted Academy – a place of brilliant support, founded by Nicola Smith. It’s another place of challenge and one I wouldn’t be without!

Please, take a peep at some of my new products below, I’d love to know what you think. To leave a comment, please, click here or post below. Thank you 🙂
